YOUTH FESTIVAL 2015-16 REPORT
Hearty congratulations to the R.A. Podar contingent for winning the overall championship 1st runners up position at the Mumbai University's Youth Festival competition. It is the most reputed inter collegiate competition held in Mumbai. Around 400 colleges affiliated to the University of Mumbai participate in Youth Festival every year. The contingent that represented the college were successful in winning a majority of the events. The following is a list of events where the students excelled. the National level Festival DOON GHATI RANGAMANCH in Dehradun
Heartiest Congratulations to Ms Vaishanavi Phatak of TYBcom for bagging second prize for classical solo and duet dance competition at the National level Festival DOON GHATI RANGAMANCH in Dehradun in May 2016. There were more than 70 participants from all over India. Ms Vaishnavi has been learning classical kathak dance and has completed six levels from Gandharva Maha Mandal as well as Prachin kala kendra Chandigarh till Visharad pratham. Proud to be a Podarite!
Verve 2016
Vidyalankar Institute of Technology’s festival ‘VERVE 2016’ was made an inter collegiate competition for the very first time. R. A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics participated in VERVE – The Genesis 2016. Around 20 colleges over Mumbai participated in this festival which hosted its sports event on 13th&14th February and its cultural events from 16th-18th February. R. A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics were presented with ‘The Best College’ Trophy. The event could be a success because of the guidance and support from Mrs. Vrushali Kaneri- the Chairperson of the Artist Guild. The contingent was led by Miss Sanjana Kumar (Contingent Leader), Mr Varun Vora and Miss Anushree Patil (Assistant Contingent Leader).
NIEM's Event Manager of the Year Awards.
National Institute of Event Management, Asia's Largest Event Management Institute felicitated students across 15 reputed colleges with Event Manager of the Year Award. From R.A.Podar College Mr. Omkar Shende and Mr. Utsav Sejpal were felicitated with the award.
GANDHARVA 2016
Gandharva 2016 an intercollegiate fest organised by K C Joshi college of arts and N G bedekar college of commerce of Thane was a best ever platform for podarites win the overall Gandharva trophy for fourth consecutive year.Podar took a overall lead of 260 points .The events were held for two days 22nd,23 rd of January .Mandar Gopale (sybcom) and Balaji Ganeshan (Tybcom) were the CL for the fest.All this was possible because of the support of Mrs.Vrushali Kaneri Maam (Artists guild)
Aahan 2016
R.A.Podar College of Commerce and Economics recently participated in Usha Pravin Gandhi’s ‘Aahan 2016- Ascend beyond Aspirations’ which took place from 7th to 9th of January 2016 and received a humongous response from the local colleges. Under the guidance of Mrs.Vrushali Kaneri Chairperson of the Artist Guild, led by the CL Siddhant Manjrekar and the ACL’s Sneha Ganesh and Kunal Pansare, ‘Popeye’- Podar’s contingent code were able to perform amazingly in all of Aahan. R.A.Podar’s students dominated the Sports events, wherein we got 9 out of 12 podium finishes. Akshaya Iyer, studying in SYBMS fetched us 2000 points alone. We also managed to win 3 out of 6 Gaming events and won the Sports and Gaming trophy because of the excellent performances in both the departments. Even though Web and IT was relatively a new genre of department for us, R.A. Podar managed to win 4 out of 6 events despite of being a Commerce college. Shantanu Rangnekar, a student from FYBCom, was the star of ‘Actors hunt’ and the standup comedy event, as allured the audience with his performance and a rain of applause poured down on him as he won both the events. Shagun Sharma a student from SYBCOM and Ritvij Karande a student from TYBCOM also managed to win the literary trophy by getting a podium finish in 4 out of 6 events. ‘A Trail of Tales’, the ultimate crossover event organized by Aahan was also won by Podarites. This outstanding performance by the students of R.A.Podar led to their victory, and we won Aahan for the fourth consecutive year. Special thanks to all the participants for making it possible.
NMIMS's Vaayu 2015
R. A. Podar College secured the third place at NMIMS' Vaayu'15 which had invited almost 100 top colleges in and around Mumbai. This fest had events from all genres like performing arts,fine arts, marketing, advertising, etc. Our contingent managed to reach the podium in all of these, namely, Mr. Shantanu Rangnekar as the winner of Actor Hunt as well as runner-up for Mr.Vaayu , Mr. Prasad Gaitonde, winner of Rythm Divine,Miss Sayali Jadhav for winning five out of six fine arts events, Mr. Pushkar Kulkarni, Mr. Shivam Ghare, Miss Divya Hegde, Miss Mahek Mathrawala, Mr. Kanhay Kubal, Miss Aishwarya Aher and many more who secured podiums in the rest of the events. An event called "The Revelation" which is the marquee event of Vaayu'15 was also won by our team comprising of Mr. Rohit Machcha, Miss Tanvi Vardam, Miss Divya Hegde , Miss Mahek Mathrawala and Mr. Malay Kothari. UTKARSH
R.A.Podar College won the coveted Utkarsh Fest organised by S.K.Somaiya College wherein more than 37 colleges participated. The college won "Winners Trophy" along with the "Best College Trophy". The participants of Podar college won many events and individual prizes as well. (1st Place) Mr. Shantanu Rangnekar was crowned with the ‘Mr. Utkarsh’ title among great fanfare and excitement.
Inter-Collegiate Extempore Speech Competition
On the 14th of December, an Inter-Collegiate Extempore Speech Competition was conducted by the M.D College of Arts, Science, Commerce & MCVC on the theme "Youth - Indian Values". Two of our students, Eshan Vaidya from F.Y.J.C won the first prize and Sanjana Devarajan from S.Y.J.C won the third prize. Congratulations to both of them.
Winners of EPSILON research paper presentation event
Hearty congratulations to Dhaval Koradia & Niket Thakkar (T.Y.Bcom) for securing first position from among 30 odd teams participanting from all over India in inter collegiate Research Paper Presentation "Epsilon'15", which was held on 12th December 2015 by Narsee Monjee college. The topic chosen by them was 'currency wars'.
